Kuti Praveshika Rasayana or Kayakalpa Therapy
(Self Isolation therapy in a special house with intake of Ayurvedic herbs)
Rasayana is one among the eight specialities told in Ayurveda. The famous Ayurvedic text, Susruta Samhita describes Rasayana therapy as that which deals with Anti ageing, cognitive strength, longevity and gaining the strength to get rid of diseases. It also deals with the proper nourishment of tissues. There are two types of Rasayana therapy described in Ayurvedic texts. They are Vatatapika Rasayana and Kutee Praveshika Rasayana. It is known as Open air or Outdoor therapy where there are no restrictions. In Kutee Praveshika Rasayana the medicine is administered by keeping the individual inside a specially prepared Kutee (cottage).
Before doing Kutee Praveshika Rasayana therapy the person must undergo internal and external purification therapies by Panchakarma. Then the person is ready to take special Ayurvedic medicines inside a specially prepared Kutee or cottage/ house with minimal light. He will be alone in this house for the entire treatment time apart from visit by doctors and therapists. The duration of treatment and the Ayurvedic herbs to be taken varies from patient to patient and can be finalized only after the consultation with doctor and also depending on the willpower of the patient. Very few Ayurvedic specialists practice this age old therapy.

The term Kaya Kalpa means renewal of body. According to Ayurveda the human body is made of seven types of dhatu or tissues-structures such as plasma, blood, muscle, fat, bone, marrow and reproductive fluids. To prolong the youthfulness of the body several physical as well as mental disciplinary methods along with Rasayanas or herbal medicines are used, to rebuild the body’s cells and tissues after the initial process of detoxification-Panchakarma.
