Acupuncture and Moxibustion
These are two ancient and traditional methods for the treatment of medical problems. They have been warmly received by patients because they are simple to apply, are applicable to many diseases, are safe and economical and achieve quick results.
In acupuncture very thin needles, slightly thicker than a human hair, are inserted into acupuncture points. The objective of acupuncture as explained earlier is to regulate and normalize the flow of the Chi, so that the Yin and the Yang return to a state of dynamic equilibrium. Acupuncture aims to relieve symptoms by curing the disease. The choice of acupuncture points to be used is the most crucial part of the treatment. The acupuncturist must know the function of each acupuncture point and its interaction with other acupuncture points. He can then plan the treatment to eliminate obstructions in the flow of Chi and to balance the Yin and Yang. After the acupuncturist has examined the patient and reached a diagnosis, he decides how the patient should be treated.
Moxibustion is a treatment consists of lighting Moxa to heat or steam the acupoints on the human body so as to cure diseases. It expels cold from the meridians and its bitter nature resolves dampness, the moxa wool can produce mild heat which is able to penetrate deeply into the muscles, if it is replaced by other materials an intolerable burning pain will result. A disease that may not be treated by acupuncture may be treated by Moxibustion.
Acupuncture and Moxibustion treatment covers a wide range of diseases. These therapies are particularly effective with diseases such as Rheumatism, chronic gastro enteritis, neurosis and neuralgia. In case where surgical procedures are needed Acupuncture & Moxibustion can be used at the same time to raise the level of resistance and speed the healing process. It can strengthen the controlling and adjusting functions of the body through the central nervous system especially cerebral cortex and autonomic nervous system, regularize heartbeats, adjust the body temperature, regulate blood pressure and breathing etc.
